... you feel under-confident?
I have been suggesting alot of makeup artists for the upcoming Haunt season, people I would have to train and hire, all of which make me feel like a loser!
This has happened to me in every field of artistry I've worked/studied in (Animation, face painting, fashion makeup...), where there is ALWAYS someone younger than me, who has gone to school, who has money and connections to make things happen and who makes me feel unqualified for the job.
The makeup artists I hired last year showed me up greatly, sporting both schooling and experience in film.
This year, I hope to hire artists who have worked for celebrity clients (!) and who have attended 3-year makeup programs. Although neither of them exhibit skills with special effects makeup, I have a feeling they will just leave me in the dust.
Should I throw in the towel here? I won't have money to go to school anytime in the forseeable future, I cannot seem to make any connections in the film industry (San Diego sucks for film industry anyhow!) and with all this talent around me, I feel like a preschooler amongst modern masters.
What should I do? I'm beginning to doubt myself, and I don't know what to do... Tom Savini says you have to make your dreams come true or they will haunt you forever.... but I don't know how to do it! D:
So what do you do in this situation?
